AWAKENING TO AGENCY CAPTURE
Industries Capture Govt Agencies for Their Benefit, Not the Public's
Following is a recent email message from CHD that seems worth sharing.
Look who's talking about agency capture now!
You may have seen my email earlier. It contained a simple, but important message: This is what momentum looks like.
In case you missed it, Newsweek just ran an op-ed calling for everything you and Children’s Health Defense have been demanding for years: the end of public health agency corruption … and the end of the childhood chronic disease epidemic.
Please rush a donation today to CHD to help us keep the momentum going!
It was remarkable to see mainstream media run an article laden with scathing criticism of our public health institutions and their utter failure to protect our kids.
Even more stunning? The author was none other than the former director of the CDC — Dr. Robert Redfield.
In about 800 words, Redfield highlighted the corruption you and CHD have fought so many years to expose.
He called out the poisoning of our food with pesticides. The royalties NIH scientists collect from Big Pharma. The cozy relationships between industries and the agencies that are supposed to regulate them.
He reminded readers that our public health agencies are supposed to “focus on public good, not corporate interests or personal profit.”
Redfield told readers: “If we do not discover the depth of our corporate capture problem and fix it, we cannot truly address chronic disease in this country.”
In other words, contrary to the mainstream media’s claim that we’re just a bunch of conspiracy theorists — in Redfield’s estimation, we’ve been right all along.
I couldn’t help but feel validated and vindicated after reading Redfield’s words.
You should feel the same — after all, those of us who have been fighting this battle for so long have often felt like outsiders.
But there’s a bigger win here. The fact that a former CDC director would utter such harsh words about institutions he once worked in, and the fact that a mainstream news outlet would publish those words, are clear signs that our movement is winning our decades-long battle.
I firmly believe that the U.S. courts follow the court of public opinion. I now believe, more than ever, that we are winning in that court.
We have a real chance at ending agency capture. A real chance to get all the toxins out of our kids' bodies. A real chance to end the childhood chronic disease epidemic.
The momentum is on our side. Let’s keep it going!
